2019 學者盃北京場

The World Scholar’s Cup is a gathering of students from around the globe in celebration of learning and the promotion of a global community. Each year, new themes are released, encompassing subjects that include art and music, literature, history, social studies, science, and special area. In order to prepare, students must research each area of the syllabus carefully, learning the content as well as the guiding questions. In addition, students prepare by practicing debate and writing before the start of regional competitions.

Students compete in academic events such as team debate, collaborative writing, scholar’s challenge, and scholar’s bowl. Community events include scholar’s scavenge, social, talent show, debate showcase, cultural fair, and a scholar’s ball. Qualifying members from regional rounds move up to participate in global rounds. Successful qualifiers may then move on to the Tournament of Champions, which is held each year at Yale University.

This year, Ann, Tiffany, Jamie, and Sandy have qualified for the Beijing global rounds after competing in the Kaoshiung regional round. For some, this will be the second time they are in a global round and for others this is their first time. Regardless, students are looking forward to meeting with students from around the world and working together with them successfully in academic events. They are also looking forward to sharing the culture of Taiwan with scholars from around the world.
