The theme of Earth Day 2022 is "Invest in Our Planet", which aims to preserve and protect our health, our families, and our livelihoods. WISE held a Go Green one-day cycling activity on 4/17, inviting students and parents from elementary school to high school to go out to nature. Some students even set off from Taichung City to Dongfeng early in the morning. We hope that through the Go Green cycling activity, students, their families, and friends can start a green life and gel together.

When learning outside, children interact and work together differently than when they are in the classroom. Last Friday, our Grade 2 students have taken a lovely afternoon walk to Fuxing Park near our school. Grade 2 teachers planned this activity by the current Social Studies lesson. At the park, students put on their gloves and picked up the trash from every corner of the park. This was a very precious experience for them, not only did they have a chance to contribute to the neighborhood but also through community service, they could develop an increased sense of social responsibility.

Change your habits. Save the planet. 

The sea turtles and other animals are facing the threat of extinction. To enhance the global ecological environment and animal conservation awareness, WISE invited the lecturer Mr. Dai to give us a speech about the earth's marine debris and carbon reduction and how small changes to our diet can benefit the planet.

Every simple daily activity can make a big difference. We encourage everyone can start to bring reusable cups, tableware, food containers, and bags with them to reduce disposable items. Let’s Think Green together!

In 1989, the United Nations adopted the "Convention on the Rights of the Child", and governments of various countries have successfully established "Children's Day" based on the spirit of the convention.

This year, WISE customized coin purses for all students to celebrate this special day. Students can use coin purses to cultivate the concept of saving money, and they can also store accessories to create their own storage system.

Communication between a parent and a teacher can impact how well the student performs. Here at WISE, we believe that meeting in person is the most efficient way, so we had invited our students’ parents from grade 1 to grade 12 to join our 2022 Spring Parent-Teacher Conference. Parent-teacher meetings can encourage students to improve their behavior and academic performance because they know that teachers are watching them and communicating with their parents.

Books and education play a major role in providing knowledge. Reading is important because it develops your thoughts, increases your vocabulary, and improves your concentration. WISE holds the Book Fair semesterly to culture our students’ reading habits.

Reading is fundamental. However, some underprivileged children don't have access to books other than their textbooks. We would like to invite you to donate the English books as Children’s Day gifts for the children at the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF) Southern Taichung. 

WISE and the KickStart Soccer Team held two soccer matches together on Sunday, March 20th. Thank you to the coaches for organizing this event and giving players the opportunity to play soccer with other teams. The most important thing is not winning or losing. The persistence and cooperative spirit the players learn from these games are the most treasured things for them. We are glad everyone enjoyed the matches. Nice Job, Jaguars!

Disaster response is an important life skill whether for elementary or high school students. This year, WISE invited Taichung City Fire Bureau Shuinan Division to hold a fire drill workshop for Grade 1 to Grade 12. Students should be able to have disaster prevention concepts and cultivate emergency response capabilities through the workshop.

Stand with Ukraine 

Students from the WISE volunteer club have launched a donation activity to support Ukraine. As part of global citizens, we hope to call on teachers, students, and parents to send love across the sea through humanitarian assistance. 

Many parents, teachers, and students have responded enthusiastically to the activity. To provide students with sufficient time to send their support to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on time, the donation activity will end on March 15th. Thank you for your cooperation!

Every year on the first Thursday in March, children around the world will celebrate “World Book Day.” In the UK, every child is given a voucher to be spent on books. In India, the most popular activity on this day is “Selfie with your favorite Book.” On the other hand, here at WISE our Grade 3 and Grade 8 students gave us a very memorable puppet show.
